In Mino, a historical pottery production area since the mid-Heian period, Yamatada Katoen has been making mortars and graters for generations since its establishment in 1794. This natto bowl is made by Mr. Tomoya Kato, the seventh generation of the family.
It is a beautiful natto bowl that easily blends into the modern dining table. It is designed to be held firmly in one hand for easy mixing, and is also useful as a dressing container or a katakuchi.
I just wanted to take a moment to share how much I’ve been enjoying the products I bought from your store. The Tsujiwa Kanaami Hand-Knitted Coffee Dripper has become a daily staple for us. It’s not only functional but also so beautiful—it looks like a piece of art sitting on our counter. And the Yamatada Katoen Natto Bowl is absolutely stunning. You can really feel the care and craftsmanship that went into making it. It’s so full of character and warmth, like it has its own story to tell.
I also want to thank you for the thoughtful packaging and the excellent logistics service. The package arrived from Japan to China in just a week, which was amazing! If I could give a rating, it would be 100/10 for sure. Thank you again for everything! I will definitely visit again!

Yamatada Katoen
Founded in 1794. Takada Town, Tajimi City in Gifu Prefecture, is famous for its historical pottery production area, so much that it has its own name "Takada ware," within the group of Mino pottery. The seventh generation, Mr. Tomoya Kato, created a mortar with the ripple-comb pattern.
