About Warousoku

It is said that candles came from China during the Nara period. Candles at that time were made from wax collected from bee's nest and only high-ranking people were allowed to use.

It was the Muromachi period that warousoku (Japanese candle) was born. They began to produce candles made of wax collected from a Japanese wax tree. It has been widely spread in the Edo period, and it has a long history.

The special feature of warousoku is that because there is little oil smoke, the altar and the room do not get dirty easily, and it can be wiped easily. When lighting the fire, it will burn powerfully and will not disappear with a few winds. Also, even if there is no wind, the flames will shake, so it is very mysterious.

Precautions

  • When the candle is lit, stay in a position where you can see the flame.
  • Please do not place any flammable objects near the candle.
  • Do not use in windy areas.
  • The candle should be fixed in a straight position on a non-flammable candlestick that matches the hole of the candle.
  • Please note that Japanese candles have a thicker wick, which results in a larger flame.
  • Do not touch the product when it is burning or immediately after it is extinguished, as it may cause burns.
  • If the wick starts to stick out while burning, use a wick picker or tongs to remove it, leaving 1 to 2 cm.
  • Do not store under direct sunlight or in high temperature and humidity. It may discolor.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Since it is made of vegetable wax, white powder may stick to it depending on the storage condition, but it will come off when you wipe it off. There is no problem in use, so please do not worry.
