Futagami is a brass lifestyle brand launched in 2009 by Futagami Co., Ltd., a foundry established in 1897, together with designer Masanori Oji.
Takaoka copperware is a traditional craft that has been handed down in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, for approximately 400 years. Brass has been used in a variety of fields, including architectural hardware, ship fittings, and furniture fittings. It also has a long history as a material for arts and crafts and Buddhist altar fittings because of the soft texture and elegant luster of the material.
The more you use brass, the more its surface oxidizes and develops a unique flavor, making it a material that will fit in with your daily life over time. Why don't you feel the desire to cherish and watch over it like a treasure that has been by your side since childhood, as time passes?
The products were delivered in good condition and without damage.
I truly hope that there are more varieties of products available for purchase. I would definitely return and make another purchase.
Thank you so much for your good service.

The traditional brass coloring technique, "kuromura," which has been cultivated by Takaoka Foundry, gives the appearance of an ancient excavation.
Unlike ordinary painting or plating, it is not uniform, and each piece has its own expression, creating a warm and antique metal look. As it ages with use, the taste and color deepens and settles into a deep color similar to that of cast brass.
Kuromura is colored with a lacquer-based paint mixed with pigments, and then "ohaguro" is rubbed in with a brush while applying heat to give it an even and expressive appearance. This coloring technique has been handed down from generation to generation in the Takaoka Foundry, which has long been involved in the production of Buddhist ritual utensils and statues.
