Futagami's Cutlery as a Tool

Futagami is a brass lifestyle brand launched in 2009 by Futagami Co., Ltd., a foundry established in 1897, together with designer Masanori Oji.

Takaoka copperware is a traditional craft that has been handed down in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, for approximately 400 years. Brass has been used in a variety of fields, including architectural hardware, ship fittings, and furniture fittings. It also has a long history as a material for arts and crafts and Buddhist altar fittings because of the soft texture and elegant luster of the material.

The more you use brass, the more its surface oxidizes and develops a unique flavor, making it a material that will fit in with your daily life over time. Why don't you feel the desire to cherish and watch over it like a treasure that has been by your side since childhood, as time passes?

Lead-Free Brass
Under the Food Sanitation Law, when tableware is made of copper alloy materials such as brass, the lead content must be 0.1% or less, and the parts directly in contact with the mouth must be coated with copper or tin, etc. Futatagami's Cutlery as a Tool is made of a proprietary "lead-free brass" material to control workability, strength, and color. The silver plating on the parts that come into contact with the mouth has been proven to have antibacterial properties against bacteria in water, and the coating is hygienic and beautiful, with no metallic odor.

FUTAGAMI
Cutlery as a Tool

Three new types of cutlery as tools for use at the dining table have been created. The handle has a cast brass finish. The rough surface of the brass allows for a firm grip when held in the hand. The brass used is our proprietary lead-free brass. The tip is polished to a hairline finish and then finished with silver plating.
